About Ideal Africa Initiative South Sudan

A South Sudanese national non-governmental organization registered with the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission under RRC No. 4257 and established in 2019 — built around locally led action, professional accountability and the meaningful participation of women, young people and communities affected by conflict, displacement and exclusion.

A deliberately protection-led organization

Our orientation is protection-led by design. Protection and safeguarding define how we understand risk, select participants, design activities, manage partnerships and measure change. Education and Food Security & Livelihoods operate as supporting pathways — reducing exposure to harm, restoring agency, improving access to opportunity and helping households and communities recover with dignity.

Our vision

Safe, inclusive and resilient communities in which women, young people and marginalized groups exercise their rights, participate in decisions and pursue dignified opportunities.

Our mission

To work with communities and institutions to prevent and respond to protection risks, strengthen safeguarding and access to rights, and connect vulnerable people — especially women and youth — to education, livelihoods and locally owned resilience solutions.

Our values in practice

What our values mean in practice

Dignity

People are shown as agents and partners, never as objects of pity.

Inclusion

Women, youth, persons with disabilities, displaced people and other excluded groups can participate safely and meaningfully.

Accountability

Claims are supported by records; communities have accessible feedback and reporting channels.

Do No Harm

Consent, confidentiality, conflict sensitivity and survivor safety take precedence over visibility.

Local leadership

Community knowledge and local institutions shape solutions and sustain results.

Women-led leadership

IAISS is 100% women-governed, and women comprise 80% of the Senior Management Team. Governance rests with the Board and oversight body, while management rests with the executive team. We are women-led and intentionally women- and youth-focused, while serving vulnerable people of all genders through inclusive, needs-based programming.
